Dear Madam President,
Do you remember the night we met? You know how sometimes you meet people who have everything figured out? They seem to know where they are going? They have a detailed plan and are just cruising through on their way? Yeah, that wasn’t you.
When we met, you were an energetic young woman who had a spark in her eye. You were full of life and ambition, you had no idea where to start, but you weren’t about to let that stop you. You knew you would make a difference.
You wanted to be a lawyer, a rapper, and (most of all) a Change Maker. Hence, the nickname Madam President was born.
Since we met, you have moved in the direction of your dreams. You’re inspiring to hear about your journey. You should know how your story impacts others. Ready?
You’re a musical artist who was concerned that you’d offend the people who inspired your music.
That conversation is one reason this website exists today. Fear of people being offended or disagreeing with the words on a page or an idea can be petrifying. The only way to overcome it is to do it. Thank you for showing us that.
Do you remember getting frustrated about people not saying what they mean? When others would say one thing, hoping that their friends would understand what they wanted if they implied some other meaning.
There were many rants on this topic.
Looking back, you showed us that most of us are not intentional. We sometimes think about what we want but don’t say it.
We lay small clues and hope, maybe if the pieces come together then…

We speak in generalities to not offend and sometimes avoid complimenting everyone else.
I wasn’t intentional enough. We can be more intentional.
Moving towards your dreams with intention. That’s what you taught me and what you show others by your example.
Thank you for being excited and passionate, not allowing yourself to be a victim of your circumstance, challenging the status quo, and inspiring me. Thank you, Madame President.
